Several documentaries, specials and movies are scheduled to air on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Classic film buffs can tune in to AMC for the network’s Best Vets Movie Marathon. Among the many featured films are “We Were Soldiers,” “The Green Berets,” and “Heartbreak Ridge.”
PBS will air “Navy SEALS – Their Untold Story,” a documentary featuring first-hand accounts and never-before-seen mission footage.
Disney Junior’s “Doc McStuffins” offers a special episode in which Doc assures her friends when action figure Army A is called to duty and will soon be separated from them.
A&E offers the debut of “Dogs of War.” The docu-series, which will move to Sundays after the premiere, chronicles veterans being treated for post-traumatic stress disorder with the help of adopted shelter dogs trained in rehabilitation.
HBO’s “The Concert for Valor” will honor veterans and their families, live from the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Among the schedule guests are Jack Black, The Black Keys, Bryan Cranston, Eminem, Jamie Foxx, Dave Grohl, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J., George Lopez, Metallica, John Oliver, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Bob Woodruff and Zac Brown Band, as well as special appearances by Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.
The concert will also be available for free via live stream at TheConcertForValor.com. An audio simulcast will air live on many iHeartMedia radio stations and on a customized iHeartRadio “Concert for Valor” digital station. The American Forces Network will deliver the concert to American servicemen and women, the Department of Defense and other U.S. government civilians and their families stationed abroad via their worldwide radio and television broadcast networks.
